2010 Christmas Adopt Troop


On Saturday sisters, Mary Reeser, Dawn Rock, Janice Gregory, Judy Greenway, Valerie Crouse, Connie Gonseth, Kim Rasbeck and Granddaughter Samantha Steele of sister Maryanne Moser all gathered at the post to pack up our Christmas shipment to our Adopt A Troop Army unit of 10 men and 10 women serving in Afghanistan.

Stockings were filled with socks, puzzle books, magazines, hair ties, clippers, candles, ski caps, puzzles, deodorant, Blistex, gum, Trail Mix, Slim Jims, Jerky, Batteries, Candy etc. We also put the battery operated lights on 20 Christmas Trees for the 20 soldiers. Decorations were also sent seperate for them to decorate their own tree. One sister made homemade jam for each soldier and several sisters made homemade Christmas Cookies.

Total cost of this project was $900 with the postage that was $160. Funding for this project was donated by the veterans, the auxiliaries and an anonymous donor. This troop will be coming home in January and works are already in the making to Adopt Life Member of our Post Marc Skilinski's Army Troop who will be sent to Afghanistan very soon. His sister Cherie is with the troop that we are currently Adopting and coming home soon. See photos below:
